Efren Dominique M. Chatto II is a highly experienced commercial lawyer with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, foreign investments, energy, infrastructure, construction, banking, technology, logistics, and real estate. Mr. Chatto began his career working as a senior associate in SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan, where he gained over eight years of extensive training in various areas of law.
Mr. Chatto has advised several local and international companies on their acquisition and investment strategies, including due diligence, deal structuring, negotiation and documentation, and local regulatory compliance.
In addition to M & A and foreign investments, Mr. Chatto has also advised clients on various energy and public-private partnership (PPP) infrastructure projects. He has been involved in the acquisition, construction, and financing of renewable energy projects, including solar energy and hydropower. His proficiency in infrastructure includes advising clients on the procurement and construction of various infrastructure projects, such as airports, highways, and railways.
Mr. Chatto regularly advises clients on various logistics-related matters, including transportation. His experience in real estate includes advising clients on land acquisition, development, and construction projects.
He has also assisted clients in the technology industry, including on software licensing, data privacy, and other technology-related issues.
Mr. Chatto obtained his undergraduate degree in Management, major in Legal Management from the Ateneo de Manila University (cum laude) and his Juris Doctor degree (awardee of the Dean’s Medal for Academic Excellence) from the University of the Philippines’ College of Law. He was admitted to the Philippine bar in 2014.
