Julio P.G. Bucoy

Atty. Julio P.G. Bucoy has the distinction of being both a lawyer and a Chartered Financial Analyst. His practice focuses on capital markets, financial regulation, corporate finance, and corporate and transactional matters. His legal practice is complemented by substantial experience in the asset management, investment, insurance, and financial services industries.
He started his legal career as an associate at the Picazo Buyco Tan Fider and Santos Law Office, where he advised corporate and transactional law matters including involving banks and major Philippine conglomerates.
He subsequently joined the Strategic Business and Analytics team of the ATR Asset Management (ATRAM) Group. He later served as President of Cocolife Asset Management Company, Inc. and as Head of Corporate Finance and Strategy of United Coconut Planters Life Assurance Corporation (Cocolife) before returning to private legal practice.
Atty. Bucoy is a member of the faculty of the University of the Philippines College of Law where he teaches Banking and Financial Law. He likewise teaches Securities Regulation at the Financial Executives Association of the Philippines (FINEX) Academy. He is also the Corporate Secretary and legal counsel of the Fund Managers Association of the Philippines, and he previously served as a member of the Board of Trustees of CFA Society Philippines and the Philippine Investment Funds Association (PIFA).
Atty. Bucoy obtained his Bachelor of Science in Accounting with a minor in Economics at Fordham University, New York, where he was a member of the international honor society of Beta Alpha Psi. He then earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Philippines College of Law and thereafter passed the Philippine Bar. While in law school, he passed all three levels of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exams and was thereafter awarded his CFA designation.
